Chasing Winchcombe’s 220 all out (Sam Turrell 4-43, Leon Clarke 4-31), the league leaders looked well in control thanks to an opening partnership of 142 in 32 overs between Matt Page (94) and Alex Smith (68).

However, two wickets for Ashton and three for E Major, including a wicket maiden, left eighth pair Clive Haywood and Turrell needing 15 for victory off the last two overs.

Four singles and a boundary were scrambled off the penultimate over to swing the momentum back in Rowington’s favour.

Turrell then hammered the first ball of Major’s final over to the boundary and, despite following it with a play and miss, made no mistake with the third ball to get Rowington over the line.
