The ladies kept their Johns Trophy hopes alive with a second successive victory in the competition.

Despite a tricky green at St Dunstans for their clash with Worcestershire, four of the six rinks came home with victories.

Tims skipped Di Medhurst (Wolvey), Gill Maund (Sherwood Park) and Di Thurlbeck (Lillington) to a 26-8 for the highest winning rink.

Sherwood Park’s Janet Scott led Lilian Hope (Welford), Patsy Tandy (Southam) and Di Green (Sherwood Park) to a one-shot success in match that was nip and tuck all the way, while Maureen Edwards’ rink fought back from a seven-shot deficit to eventually win out 23-16.

However, the opposition dug in and made the scoreline respectable, eventually losing 26-16.

Somerset Patrons made a rare trip outside their county to face Warwickshire Vice-presidents at Norgren and suffered a one-sided 155-101 defeat.

Wolvey played host to the vice-presidents in a match to mark David Longdon’s chairmanship of the association.

Leading 112-101 after 18 ends, Lillington eventually edged home by just a shot.

Nigel Roach skipped a 29-17 for Lillington’s highest winning rink, with John Randerson claiming a 25-20 success.

Ted Rheams was held to a 16-16 draw and despite Keith Francis going down 21-20, the two singles he picked up over the final three ends proved crucial.
