Folkard is the number one pick for Worlds

Leamington’s triple Olympian Naomi Folkard has been selected by Great Britain to take part in the World Championships which start in Antalya, Turkey, in September - the biggest archery event since London 2012.

As an unfunded archer, the selection criteria laid down by Archery GB required Folkard to win the selection process outright (two two-day selection shoots), in order to secure a place in Antalya.

Folkard took on the challenge and, with some superb shooting, convincingly won all elements of the ladies’ recurve selection shoot, including all ten of her head to head matches.

Folkard will be joined in Antalya by fellow Olympian Amy Oliver (Dearne Valley) and Becky Martin (Trent Valley).

Folkard said: “I am really looking forward to the event. We are all shooting well and we will make a strong team.”
