Badsey decision not to blame for loss, says Kingham

Town manager Kev Kingham refused to blame a controversial decision not to award his side a goal for a 3-2 defeat at Badsey Rangers.

The visitors were 2-1 up courtesy of a Shane Brassington brace and thought they had scored a third when the goalscorer lobbed the keeper and the ball appeared to cross the line.

However, the referee failed to award the goal and boosted by their let-off, Basdey hit back to claim all three points in the Stratford Alliance Division One encounter.

“It was a tough loss to take,” admitted Kingham.

“At times we played really well and we created some excellent chances.

“We’re disappointed the referee didn’t give the third goal, but it was a difficult decision as he was a long way from the action.

“However, we’re also disappointed that we let a lead slip.”

Town are fourth in Division One having lost four of their opening nine games. but Kingham is refusing to give up hope of a title challenge.

“We’ve got cup games against Alveston and Studley Swan and we need to get a couple of good results and then build on those with a good run of wins straight after Christmas.

“We’re nine points behind Alcester Town in the league now, but still have to play them home and away.”

Town’s reserves continued their improved form with a 4-2 win at Quinton Reserves, with Simon Myles and Nicky Hanlon both scoring braces.

Kenilworth’s over-35s, meanwhile, beat a stubborn The Oak (Kenilworth) side 1-0, with Paul Okey scoring the only goal of the game.
