Bramwell brace secures welcome first points of the season for Kenilworth

Kenilworth Town recorded their first Midland Combination Division Two win of the season at the third time of asking on Tuesday evening, with two goals from James Bramwell helping them to a 3-1 defeat of Rostance Edwards.

Town again fell behind but went on to produce their best display of the fledgeling campaign, with Bramwell’s brace and a further strike from substitute Danny McDonald wrapping up the three points.

Director of football John Williams was a relieved man after the final whistle, but said the win had been coming.

“It was a good result against a good side,” said Williams.

“We played some good football, both teams did, but our fitness eventually told.

“We kept the ball and played it around well, so it was very pleasing.”

It was in stark contrast to Saturday, when Williams had described his side as “inept” in a 6-2 home defeat to Paget Rangers.

“We were awful and we played with a lot of fear,” he admitted.

Ben Morgan and Luke Vuckovic scored the consolations for Town, who are back in action on Monday when they entertain Leamington Hibs.
