Cup progress for in-form Racing Club

PILKINGTON XXX 1 RACING CLUB WARWICK 4

Racing Club moved into the last four of the Birmingham Midweek Floodlit Cup with a comfortable win at Midland Combination Premier rivals Pilkington to further complicate their congested run-in.

First-half strikes from Ricardo Richards and Craig Thomas gave the visitors a 2-1 lead, with further goals after the break from Danny Charlton and Richards putting Racers through to their third cup semi-final.

With Racers having played the least number of games in the top flight, it promises to be a busy end to the campaign, with matches already schedules for every Saturday and Tuesday during March.

However, manager Lee Knight says he would not want it any other way.

“The games can’t come quick enough,” said Knight.

“My job is easy at the moment, the side picks itself.

“On the bench on Tuesday night we had five substitutes all capable of playing at any other club in this league.

“The pressure on the players doesn’t come from me, it comes from within the squad.

“The sky’s the limit and we just want to keep playing games.”

Racing Club travel to Cadbury Athletic tomorrow, with goalkeeper Arthur Byrne expected to come in for his debut in place of Ash Malholtra.
