Dunchurch Junior School team dream of playing at Wembley

Dunchurch Junior School played in the regional final of the English Football League’s Kids Cup last Saturday.

The competition is one of the country’s largest national football competitions with over over 16,000 children involved.

After winning a qualifying tournament, Dunchurch played Willows from Stratford at Coventry City FC’s training ground, enjoying a 9-1 win, an unthinkable scoreline for this stage of the competition.

Later in the year Dunchurch will play against teams from across the south of England in a one-day tournament at Oxford United FC. Victory there will earn them a place in the national final at Wembley in May.

Games coach Tom James said : “ It’s a fantastic achievement, I am so proud of the boys.

“We’ve had fantastic support from everyone at the school as well as all the parents. We are all dreaming of Wembley now! Fingers crossed...”
