Players pay their respects with poppies in their kit

Coventry Minor League

U13s: Eastlands 7 Christ the King 1: Eastlands took inspiration from the one-off poppies on their kit to put in a performance worthy of the day. After an impeccable silence from both clubs and supporters, the game roared into life. It took ten minutes of pressure before Jace Garner blasted home. Dan King’s shot was too hot to handle for the hosts second and then a brace from Bailey Coblenz completed the first-half scoring.

Eastlands changed it around second half only for Jace to plunder a second. CTK pulled a deserved goal back only for a thunderous header from Bailey to complete his hat-trick. However, in the last minute right back Harry Coulthard capped off a terrific game with a 50-yard run from the half way line to shoot home for 7-1.

POTM was close with Callum Spriggs, Jace, Dan Yare and Bailey but Tom Morgan’s determination won it.
