The trial days will give each participant an insight into the opportunities available within the foundation, to train and get to meet the staff, existing players from the current group.

SFF is ran in partnership with Ofsted grade 1 “Outstanding” training provider Heart of England Training providing full time education the same way a College or Sixth Form offer education. Learners will have the opportunity of BTEC Level 3 extended diploma in sport, they also provide a great opportunity for young people who are looking to develop a career in football / sports coaching industry within their apprenticeship scheme and their full time sports coaching pathway.

The SFF Football Education Programme has been formed since July 2011 and provides a great opportunity for  young people (16-18 ) to continue their education whilst having the opportunity of coaching from coaches with Premier League experience and playing in the highest level of college football in the country.

SFF have delivered over 350 qualifications in the last 4 years, seeing over 100 young people finding full time employment, numerous learners have gone onto university and this year has seen students gain scholarships in the USA.  SFF have built strong links with  American Colleges who would offer Scholarship opportunities to the very talented players after completing their studies within the foundation.

Regular trips to St George’s Park are all part of the SFF experience and are integral part of the development of our players giving the players the opportunity of being coached by coaches from the premier league and some top European clubs as part of the UEFA A Licence Assessments.

SFF director Gordon Strachan is pleased with the progress the Foundation is making. He said: “It’s great to see young people not only developing as footballers but as people. We have seen boys earn contracts in professional football but have also seen lads go out to the USA coaching and progress onto bigger and better things in life.”

2016 will be Strachan Football Foundation’s 5th year, the past 4 years have seen some very positive outcomes, we had over 15 players trial at professional clubs, Peterborough United, Bradford City, Premier League Swansea City, Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest and had one player sign a professional contract at Scottish Championship side Falkirk.

Gordon Strachan isn’t the only familiar face at the training ground SFF have regular guest coaches with Premier League experience  having seen former Aston Villa manager Kevin McDonald, former Coventry City manager Steven Pressley, Gary Breen, Paul Williams and many more all taking sessions with the players.
