Rugby Borough managed a much-needed 3-2 win over FC Khalsa GAD in an entertaining affair at Kilsby Lane on Saturday, writes Samuel Collins.

Borough however didn’t get off to the best of starts as Mussa Bham went on a great solo run beating four players before scooping the ball over Ryan Woodward into the net.

Borough equalised after Jack Bibb’s through ball gave Reece Lydon a good angle to drive the low past the keeper.

The game went into the half time break level however both teams would argue that they should be in front.

Early in the second half Nic Whittam gave the hosts the lead when he rose to headhome. Khalsa were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute which was hit high and wide.

Rugby punished Khalsa for the mistake three minutes later with a wonder goal from Shaun Barber, as he spotted the keeper off the line and lobbed him from distance.

It looked like Borough would win comfortably and they did but Khalsa made it 3-2 five minutes from time in this Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division game.

Rugby Borough Reserves started the new year with three vital points away to mid-table Rothley Imperial. Borough took an early lead through Chay Kalym.

Rothley hit back to be 2-1 up at the break. Borough came out firing and were soon level with Kalym’s second.

Goal of the game and arguably one for team goal of the season followed great play from the back cutting Rothely’s team apart allowing Phil Kolo to pounce for 3-2.
