Record numbers but still a few places left for new season

Strachan Football Foundation have welcomed record numbers for their 2013/14 pre-season, having recently been successful in an application to compete in the newly formed English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) National College Premier League. The successful application will now allow SFF to pit their wits against the top 10% of college football academies from across the whole of the UK.

July 8th saw the start of pre-season for the new Strachan Football Foundation recruits for the 2013/14 season, following on from a very successful 2012/13 season which saw the Under 21’s ran in association with Rugby Town JFC go unbeaten for the whole league campaign and the Under 18’s finishing 3rd in their division.

Coach Chay Thompson spoke of the application and effort from the players within pre-season “ The lads have come in with a great attitude and work ethic and to date have worked very hard within the sessions we have ran, I am looking forward to a successful season building on our success from the previous 2 years.”

Director and Scottish National Team Boss Gordon Strachan said: “Having seen such great progress in only 2 years, the news has spread quickly, I have not seen this amount of players involved day to day at the Foundation, Dan Elliott and his staff are doing a fantastic job I am very excited to see the progress the new recruits will make”.

The Football Education Programme ran in partnership with Ofsted “outstanding” grade 1 training provider Heart of England Training can offer BTEC Sport, FA Coaching qualifications, Apprenticeships and valuable work experience to young people aspiring to develop a career in the Football / Sports Industry.

All players will have the opportunity of 10 hours coaching per week and games at a very competitive standard.
