Youngsters from Rugby took part at a specially arranged soccer training session for the West Bromwich Albion Under 8 Shadow Squad.
The session, on Saturday in Rothwell, gave the young soccer players, who are members of the Football Development Schools (FDS) Regional Academy, a chance to use the skills they had learnt into real match situations.
Lewis Green, 8, from Northampton, Max Prickett-Reed, 7, from Northampton, Zack Lomen, 8, and Mackenzie Patchett-Smith, 8, both from Rugby all enjoyed the the training session.
Lewis said: “I really enjoy the chance to use all of the skills that I learn at the Academy in a real match and also to play with all of my Academy friends in a team.’
Football Development School’s Director Scott Baines, who is also a fully qualified West Brom Youth Coach, said: “By giving the youngsters a chance to play in team situations gives them the opportunity to use all of the skills and tactics they learn week in week out at the weekly Academy sessions.
“They all did very well at the session and we were very impressed with the attitude and determination they showed despite the cold and wet weather conditions!”
