Holleran is impressed by Halsall but deal not in pipeline

Leamington are unlikely to add to their ranks ahead of the Skrill North kick-off on August 17.

Brakes featured three trialists at Rugby Town last Friday evening, with Joe Halsall starting in midfield and Henry Todo and Adam Daly coming off the bench in the 4-2 win.

However, while Holleran was interested in sorting out a deal for Halsall, he said personal circumstances make the signing of Stratford Town’s player of the year a long shot.

“Joe was something I was hoping to do something with,” said Holleran .

“I think travelling was a big issue for him when he was at Stratford and it’s still a bit up in the air, but I don’t think we’ll be able to do anything.

“It’s a shame as I do think he’s got something.”

With Holleran currently away in Ireland, assistant Liam O’Neill will take charge of Brakes for tomorrow’s home clash with Nuneaton (3pm).

A blank week following the trip to Butlin Road means O’Neill will be able to call on a near full-strength side, with only Paul McCone (appendix) and Richard Batchelor (knee) long-term absentees.
