Kay boosts left-sided options

A lack of of onfield action has not stopped Racing Club getting busy in the transfer market, with Richard Kay this week moving to Townsend Meadow from Southam.

With the current cold snap set to continue into next week, Kay faces an extended wait to make his Racers debut, but manager Lee Knight believes his new addition will quickly make his presence felt in a side short of natural left-footers.

“We’ve only got one left-footer in the squad in Marco Ciuffini and he’s only 17,” said Knight.

“He’s done brilliantly, but it’s unfair to play him week-in, week-out and we’ve been looking to strengthen that area since we got here.”

With tomorrow’s trip to Walsall Wood unlikely to survive, Knight is already putting plans in place to make sure his players do not remain inactive for too long.

Last night saw the squad in for a boxercise session at Warwick Racing Club, with a friendly against Martin Sockett’s Rugby also in the pipeline.
