Kay happy to get off the mark as Edwards treble sinks Inkberrow

Player-coach Rich Kay had felt his side were unlucky to lose to Stratford after missing a glut of chances.

However, despite again proving wasteful in front of goal, a hat-trick from Adam Edwards and further strikes from Andy Yeates and Harvey White ensured Hibs were not made to pay.

“We moved the ball as well as I’ve seen in my time at the club,” said Kay.

“We made close to 20-plus goalscoring chances and again missed a hatful. Double figures would not have flattered us.”

Hibs head into a busy bank holiday period, with a home clash against Coventry United quickly followed by the short trip to Gypsy Lane to face Kenilworth Town.

And despite a heavy defeat to United in the Les James Challenge Cup, Kay is expecting a much tighter affair tomorrow.

“After our opening two games nobody was panicking as we had quality players to come back into the squad,” he said.

“ It’s the same for every club at this time of the year with holidays and pre-season niggles, but we’re getting players back and are looking strong for what is a hectic bank holiday period.

“We’re a far different squad from the one a couple of weeks ago.”

 Stockton were left feeling the final scoreline did not reflect the balance of play after suffering a 4-1 defeat at Folly Lane in the Coventry Alliance Premier Division.

The visitors dominated the first half but were unable to break the deadlock until ten minutes into the second period when 17-year-old Jack Skelcey scored with a sublime chip from the edge of the box.

The home side reacted well and levelled before going in front courtesy of a penalty.

And, as Stockton chased a way back, Folly hit them twice on the break to give the result a lopsided look.
