Strachan Football Foundation are hosting three days of trials on February 18-20 at Rugby Town JFC’s Kilsby Lane ground, for school leavers and any 16-18 year olds looking for a career in football and football coaching.

The trials will include training and team based classroom activities throughout the week . Interviews with Strachan Football Foundation staff will also be part of the trial week.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to be coached by SFF coaches Gordon Strachan, George Mackie, Dan Elliott and Chay Thompson with a number of guess coach appearances from coaches with Premier League experience throughout the season.

Dan Elliott Education and Marketing Director said: “To think of the progress made in under two years, we train at a multi-million pound purpose built football facility, we have three teams playing week in week out from U18′s to U21′s and have played in the British College Elite League Cup Final at Bristol City.

“We produced our first professional player in Luke Leahy who signed a two year contract at Falkirk FC in Scotland. We have also qualified over 70 Level 1 students in Sports Coaching and trained 16 apprentices completing the Level 2 Sports Coaching apprenticeship framework.

“Working with schools in the area has been another major success. Our first annual primary schools tournament in May was a great experience for all involved.”

The Foundation offers 16-18 the opportunity to continue their education and develop as a footballer gain qualifications in sports coaching and literacy and numeracy, as an alternative to college and 6th form. It has links with universities and coaching companies in the USA as well as professional clubs in the UK.
