Moore plans to enjoy himself after returning to Leamington

Stefan Moore has rejoined Brakes from Brackley.

The former Aston Villa striker scored 26 goals in 50 appearances for Brakes before making the switch to Brackley where he bagged a further 12 from 19.

However, his goals were unable to shoot Saints to the Conference North play-offs and, despite the offer of further riches from the Northamptonshire side, the 30-year-old has opted to rejoin Leamington.

And while Brakes were unable to come close to matching the terms Moore was on at St James Park, manager Paul Holleran said they were able to offer him something far more precious: enjoyment.

“It was a crazy deal,” said Holleran of the contract offer which prompted Moore’s move in January. “I defy anyone to say that they wouldn’t have taken it.

“I think at the end of the season he had time to have a little think about what he wanted from football.

“He enjoyed his time with us and certainly played well and even the prospect of a new deal at Brackley wasn’t enough. He just wants to enjoy his football.”

Moore signed off his first spell with Brakes with a fine December which won him the Conference North Player of the Month accolade and Holleran says his return has already had a positive impact following in the wake of Liam Daly and Tony Breeden’s switch to Solihull Moors.

“Stefan’s presence was a big part of what we achieved at the club.

“He played a major part in our promotion and when we were going through a difficult spell last season he got us out of it and gave us a bit of momentum.

“We’ve lost a couple of good players but we’ve been able to attract back one of the best players who has ever played for the club.

“He’s a special talent and his signing gives everyone a bit of a lift.”

There was further good news for Brakes this week with Lee Chilton, Craig Owen, Richard Batchelor and Stephan Morley agreeing terms for next season.

Meanwhile, Brakes will play a trio of away local friendlies in their build up to the 2014-15 season.

Brakes will open up at Rugby Town on Saturday July 12 (3pm) before a trip to Stratford Town on Tuesday July 15 (7.45pm).

Racing Club Warwick will host Brakes on Tuesday July 22 (7.45pm).

Cheltenham will be the first visitors to the NWG on Friday July 18 (7.45pm), with League One Walsall in town on July 26 (3pm).
