Worrying times in relegation battle with league leaders the next visitors
Rugby Town lost 3-0 at mid-table Belper on Saturday. Although the hosts had enjoyed the better chances in the first half, Valley had held them to 0-0 at half time. But three second-half goals ended in a deserved win for Belper and added to Town’s relegation woes, which sees them just one place above bottom of the NPL Division One South table.
Rugby have ten games to play, including league leaders Shaw Lane, who visit Butlin Road on Saturday (March 4th).
Bottom club Northwich Victoria have 18 points from 29 games, Rugby 20 from 32 games and Loughborough Dynamo 22 points, also from 32 games.
In contrast, at the other end of the table Shaw Lane are top with 65 points from 27 games, nearest rivals Spalding have played five games more and have 62 points, while third-placed Witton Albion have only played 26 games and are on 59 points.
