Rugby Town shocked league leaders Newcastle on Saturday, beating them 2-0 at Butlin Road and proving the better side throughout.

To earn Valley’s very first home league win of the season, Joe Halsall put Rugby ahead in the 24th minute and Charlie Faulkner made sure of the points a minute from time.

This incredible result boosts confidence for tomorrow (Tuesday’s) visit by Leek Town, who are seventh in the NPL Division One South.

Manager Gary Moran’s side are still bottom on nine points, just three behind Carlton Town and have both Loughborough Dynamo and Stamford on 14 in their sights.

Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 7.45pm.
