Rugby Borough Football Club have launched their own 16 to 19 Football Academy based at Kilsby Lane for the 2021/22 season.

Students will develop their football, competing in four different leagues, with elite level coaching whilst continuing their studies to prepare for university or chosen career.

All those on the Football and Education Scholarship will be given the opportunity to become a qualified FA Level 1 or 2 Coach, referee or take part in the organisation of events at Kilsby Lane or within the local community. There will also be an apprenticeship scheme.

Borough are holding an academy trial day on Monday, May 3 from 10am to 2pm.

Simon Mills Football Development Officer said: “We have seen some significant growth with our Griffins programme with five Under 7s teams being formed for next season and the expansion of our MJPL programme along with four senior teams in various leagues complimenting the existing set up.

“It is an exciting time for all of us at the club and with the additional Astro turf currently being constructed and ready for June.”

Unbeaten in Group D, the club’s U18s won 1-0 at Rugby Town on Wednesday. The U18 Eastern side top Group A after a 5-1 win against Tamworth-based Coton Green.
