Valley stick to same league next season

The F.A.Leagues Committee has released its provisional allocations for the first four levels of the non-league football pyramid, and Rugby Town look likely once more to remain within the Central Division of the Evostik Southern League.

If the listings stay unchanged after ratification at the annual general meetings of the various competitions, Valley will face seven different teams in 2013-14 compared to the previous campaign.

With Burnham and Biggleswade both promoted to the Southern League Premier Division and Woodford relegated to Step Five of
the pyramid, Fleet, Godalming, Guildford and Thatcham have all also been shifted
over to the league’s South and West Division.

Replacing them all are Potters Bar – who have transferred in from the Isthmian structure, relegated Kettering and a further five promoted sides – Aylesbury United, Dunstable, Egham, Marlow and St.Ives.

Due to the geographical oddities applied to the allocation, both of the other Warwickshire sides at Rugby’s level are assigned elsewhere, with relegated Bedworth transferred to the Northern League and promoted Stratford placed in the South and West Division.

Elsewhere in the county, Nuneaton remain in Step One of the pyramid after a good end to the season saw them maintain their Blue Square Premier status, whilst one level below them Leamington – who are due to visit Butlin Road for a pre-season friendly on July 26th – take their place in the Blue Square North after winning the Southern League Premier title last time round.

Other provisional warm-up matches announced by Town include a home game against another Blue Square North club Brackley on July 30th and the visit of Stamford on August 3rd.

The short trip to UCL side Long Buckby is pencilled in for July 13th, with a couple of fixtures also already planned for the Butlin Road astroturf pitch against Alvis and Sutton Coldfield – on July 6th and 20th respectively.
