Westlea ease past Wallace in Vase

Leamington & District league sides suffered mixed fortunes in the first round of the Birmingham Sunday Vase.

Westlea defeated Coventry side Wallace 5-0 with goals from Neil Stacey (2), Lee Scott, Darren Bailey and Scott Murphy, while Mark Unitt, Jody January, Darren Colledge, Josh Blake and Neale Perry were on the mark as AC Cricketers beat Myton Jaguar 5-1.

In the all-Leamington League clash, Heart of England beat Leamington Hibs 2-1 and Khalsa lost 4-1 to Folly Lane.

In the first round of the Division Three Cup, Radford Albion put aside their poor league form to beat Kenilworth Town 5-2. Dave MacDonald, Adam Finch, Oli Smith and Brodie Cullinan were on target for Albion, with Greg Camplin and Salvatore Mannina replying for Town.

Paul Goonan’s double proved in vain as AC Cricketers bowed out to Bishops Tachbrook S&SC in the second round, Luke Upton (2) and Chris Leach giving the visitors a 3-2 success.

In the first round of the George Dutton Cup, there was a 4-2 win for Kineton S&SC over Division Five outfit Castle Rangers. Mark Flowers, Liam Jones, Lloyd Wragg and Ben Purser scored the Kineton goals, with Andrew Mulley and Justin Metcalfe notching for Rangers.

In Division Two, Leamington Royals remain in the relegation zone after a 3-1 defeat at Bishops Itchington. Tom Cooper, Dan Dennehy and Matt Trinder were on the mark for Bishops.

Goals from Simon Malyon (2), James Urquhart and Jamie Duffy gave Whitnash a 4-0 win over Khalsa Reserves, while a Michael Yates hat-trick helped DJC Sporting to all three points against Leamington Rec, who replied through Sunkrat Heer.

Leek Wootton are six points clear at the top of Division Three after Blake Newbold and Nik Reynolds both scored twice in their 6-2 success over Heathcote Athletic.

Bubbenhall, with games in hand, kept the pressure on with a 4-1 success at Ettington Rovers. Adam Halford (2), James Gethins and Nathan Woodfield on target, with Lee Ashfield scoring Rovers’ reply.

A 90th-minute penalty denied Holly Bush all three points in their Division Four clash with Dynamo Leamington, with the visitors having to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Antelope boosted their promotion hopes iwth 5-2 home win over Hobson’s Choice, Matthew Jones (2), James Mander, Dan Barnett and Craig Jackson scoring. Taylor Hartwell and James Garner replied for Hobson’s.

Priors United remain in the thick of the Division Five title race in their first season in the league.

Their latest success was a comfortable 5-0 victory over rock-bottom Kineton S&SC Reserves, with George Grineux, Adam Thomas, 
Lee Morris, Mitchell Coleman and Ricky Hudson getting on the scoresheet.

Chadwick End Reserves and Inter MB both moved away from the lower reaches of the division with victories over Long Compton Rovers and Tiddington, respectively.

Four goal from Ryan Helliker and a James Keen strike gave Chadwick a 5-2 win at Long Compton, whose goals came from Dan Cook and Lewis Dyer.

It was a much closer affair between Inter and Tiddington, with goals from Paul Jackson and Oli Harrison giving the home side a 2-1 win.
