Life in the fast Lane for rising star Daniel

DANIEL Lane from Kenilworth Golf Club has earned a once in a lifetime opportunity to play with some of the game’s leading European Tour players and celebrities at the national Golf LIVE show.

The three-day event starts at the London Golf Club in Kent on Friday May 20 and 15-year-old Lane, a four handicap golfer and current Warwickshire under-16 captain, will partner David Howell in a three-hole exhibition match on the opening day.

Lane will be up against Nick Dougherty and Thomas Levet, who will be joined by their celebrity partners, one of whom will be golfing enthusiast DJ Spoony.

Lane, a student at Princethorpe College, was given the opportunity to take part in the Golf LIVE Three Hole Pro/Celebrity Challenge as an ambassador for the British Junior Golf Tour (BJGT) after being named as the tour’s Player of the Year for 2010/11.

A delighted Lane said: “I’ve been lucky to play golf at some top venues with the BJGT including Sunningdale, Woburn, Woodhall Spa, The Belfry and the 2010 course at Celtic Manor.

“This is the icing on the cake and I am very grateful to tour director Steve Adams, who will be caddying for me at the London Golf Club next week.”

Meanwhile, golden oldie George Wilkinson and partner Geoff Edmunds were crowned Kenilworth Golf Club Winter League champions at Crewe Lane on Friday night.
