The 2013 Racing season on the Road has barley begun, but the Coventry based Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Thule–Polypipe –squad are already stacking up victories across the U.K.

New signing for 2013, Tim Hasties from Rugby, has impressed with early fitness. On Saturday Tim recorded a personal best time for 10 miles , when he competed in an event in South Yorkshire, recording a time of exactly 20 mins for the 10 miles. Winner was British Time Trial Champion Matt Botterill,, who beat Tim by just under 1 ½ mins.

Other new signings Matt Pursehouse , from Kingsbury, and Richard Shimmell, who lives at Balsall Common , and works in Warwick, despite being classed as Veterans, pulverised a class field of Senior riders to win the Mid Shropshire Wheelers 2 up 25 mile Time Trial, with the very fast time of 55mins 10 secs.

This was despite the temperature at the start being recorded at minus 6 degrees – hardly perfect conditions, but clearly they showed that their very tough early season training is starting to show dividends.

Team Boss Mick Ives said:
“ These two riders have trained in all weathers this winter, determined to be winners, most of their training has been in the dark , on often wet and icy roads, and all credit to them, they are absolutely flying , and their early season will see them switch between time trials and road races. Expect some more impressive performances.”

The team’s leading lady triathlete, Samantha Anderson, who is a member of Rugby Tri Club )has had a major set back with her preparations, prior to competing for Great Britain in the European Sprint Durathlon Championships at Horst, in Holland on Sunday 21st April. Having won the final selection event , by over 4 ½ minutes, at Oulton Park Cheshire recently, Sam was admitted to hospital last week with a hip infection, and has been put on antibiotics for two weeks.
