Horne and fellow emerging talents Emily Kay, Amy Hill and Hayley Jones will be joined in the squad by two-time junior road world champion Lucy Garner and current team pursuit world champion Katie Archibald.

Team manager Darren Tudor said: “We have selected four young riders who will benefit greatly from the experience of working for Lucy and I think they will learn a lot from racing against world-class riders such as Lizzie Armitstead, Marianne Vos and Emma Johansson.”

Despite breaking her collarbone in January, Halo Physiotherapy-sponsored Horne believes she can make her mark on the world stage after relocating to Wales six months ago.

She said: “I’ve have been lucky to live and breathe cycling in a team house.

“Things are looking good and the key is consistency with me so I’m excited to see what I can do this year.

“This is my first GB jersey and it means the world to me.”

Eleven of the top 14 women’s teams will take part in the women’s Tour of Britain which starts out from Oundle on Wednesday.
