Ks bolster their ranks

Kenilworth have announced their first batch of signings for the forthcoming season.

Ex-Portadown back-rower Stephen Todd, former Montpellier back-row forward David Leech and 21-year-old second-row Will Dain have all signed registration forms in addition to 18-year-old fly-half Harry O’Brien and former Derby centre Mat Holton.

Popular second-row James Wadey has also returned to the club after his spell away last season with Rugby Lions.

Meanwhile, skipper Jonny Creswell, who will miss the opening months of the season due to injuries sustained playing rugby league, took charge of Kenilworth alongside Glyn Owen for a 47-12 friendly win over Pinley.

With a few players unavailable, the match provided an ideal opportunity to blood a number of last year’s successful colts team, with O’Brien one of seven tryscorers.

Todd marked his debut with a touchdown and Joe Yeomanson, Nyle Beckett, Bobby Thompson, Pat Jenkinson and Simon Tyler also crossed.

Kicking duties were shared between Tyler (2) and O’Brien (4).
