Leamington going National

Leamington’s regional team gained promotion to National Premier 3 after play-off success at Loughborough University.

Leamington, who qualified for the play-offs after winning the West Midlands Regional League, won their four-team group before overcoming Roman Glass 69-43 to join Telstars and Grangetown in making the step-up to national level.

The A team, meanwhile, won the Coventry and Warwickshire Premier Division title and will now go forward to the regional play-offs on June 11.

The B, C, D and E teams all produced solid mid-table finishes in their respective divisions.

Club chairman Lorraine Preston said: “Achieving national status is a fantastic achievement and one that the girls should be proud of.

“We currently are the only club in Warwickshire to play at this level.

“Hot on the heels of the national squad are the A team, who are hoping to gain promotion to play at regional level.”

The club will be holding their trials for next season in July and would welcome any new players wishing to play competitively.

They would also welcome contact from any companies who would like to sponsor them for their first venture into Premier 3.
