Meredith is England’s Young gun

Junior Whitnash Windmill player Meredith Young starred for England as they beat Wales in an international triples competition in Cardiff last Saturday.

Four triples represented England against four Welsh teams, and Young, the youngest member of the team, played alongside Jessica Shoesmith from the Anglian region and Harry Waldie from the Eastern region.

The trio won four of their six games as England claimed 19 victories to Wales’ six.

Last Saturday, Windmill held their annual junior singles championship with six competitors taking part.

Sinead Coyle retained her title, edging Aimee Colley into second. Connie Bell finished third ahead of Hannah Woof, Rachel Kelly and Amy Thompson.

Meanwhile, Bell has been selected to represent the West Midlands region at the inter-regional competition at Brean Sands next weekend.
