Turning up the heat on the Aussies!
At Albury in New South Wales, Rugby’s Mark Cossar was just pipped to an historic victory in the Sidecar Grand Slam series, finishing as runner-up in the final after reeling off five straight wins in the qualifying heats.
With his Binley Woods passenger Daz Whetstone, Cossar was gaining all the time on the Darrin Treloar/Blake Cox crew, but ran out laps as he piled up the pressure on the Australian champions.
Unfazed by the ferocious 43-degree C heat, Cossar & Whetstone became the first overseas team to ever make it on to the podium and also smashed the Albury track record. Described by the series promoters as ‘outstanding’ and ‘without doubt the world’s most improved sidecar team’, the British duo have also moved up from fourth to third with four rounds remaining.
