Silver for Murch and bronze for Broome at Bedford
The U20 & U23 England Athletic Championships were held at Bedford International Stadium last weekend. Despite some inclement weather at times an ever increasing number of Rugby & Northampton athletes performed admirably on the highest stage for their age groups.
In difficult conditions Craig Murch, in his last year as an U23 athlete, was delighted to secure the silver medal in the hammer with 61.43m and now prepares for his first appearance at the Senior British Championships in two weeks time.
He was closely followed on the podium by Eleanor Broome, who took bronze in the women’s U20 long jump with a new personal best of 6.03m.
Adam Wright produced another consistent performance in the U20 800m progressing through his heat with 1.53:89 and finished 6th in the semi final with 1.55:64. James Wright in U23 110 Hurdles progressed through the heats to also finish 6th in the final with a new personal best of 14.62s.
Jacob Allen in the U23 5000m just missed the medals when coming 4th in a time of 14.42:10. The U20 sprint group continue to impress, progressing through their heats of the 100m and 200m to the semi finals where they finished; Clinton Osaba-George 8th 11.04s and 5th 21.99s, Zachary Stapleton 8th 11.14s and 8th 22.88s, Rico Ewer 5th 11.07s and Caleb Downes 4th 22.12s.
