Leisure Centre launches family badminton club

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre in Rugby is launching a new No Strings Badminton Club for families to enjoy this summer.

The leisure centre run by Better, the UK’s largest leisure provider, is supporting Badminton England’s initiative to provide convenient, ‘drop-in’ sessions for sport enthusiasts. The new family-focused club follows the launch of an adult badminton club in June.

The No Strings session will start on August 5 and offers an affordable way to play badminton for all ages, including juniors.

Georgia Barrett, Community Sports Officer at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre, said: “We are delighted to offer this opportunity for families to exercise and have fun together. We are able to offer sessions at an affordable cost, making it as accessible as possible. We hope many families will take the opportunity to join in.”

The badminton courts will be available from 5.00 – 6.00pm every Tuesday each week and enjoying an hour’s badminton will cost just £3.50 per person.

Following on will be the usual badminton club for those aged 16 years and above. Equipment will be provided free of charge and a Better Leisure Centre badminton coach will provide advice and tips on basic skills and court play.

As these sessions are set up on a drop-in basis, there’s no need to book, you can simply turn up on the evening.
