Second team just too good for thirds

Rugby & District League Division II

Hunters II v Hunters III 6-0

Hunters Badminton club opened its season with 2 internal matches in Division II. In the first match on Hunters II took on Hunters III. Hunters III first pairing Devinder Singh and Richard Lewis started well winning a game against the second team pairing of Aseem Sharma and Antonio Hui however they could not sustain this form and lost the rubber 2-1 whilst Peter Sawyer and Richard Smith gave father and son duo Martin and Nat Toms little opportunity to shine winning another rubber for Hunters II. This was to be the way the match progressed as the second team outclassed the persistent effort of the third team. As the pairings changed for the final rubbers Hunters II were in the lead 4-0 and this pattern was repeated with fine efforts from all players leading to Hunters II taking the final rubbers and the match 6-0.

Hunters III v Hunters II 0-6

The return match saw slightly different teams competing. Simon Piercey and Ian Francis of Hunters II gave Richard Lowries and Andy Lees of Hunters III no chance to get into their stride and the rubber ended 2 games to love. On the other court the story was the same as Devinder Singh and Sam Pheasant were unable to mount a challenge to the second team pairing of Antonio Hui and Greg Denton. Hunters II continued to show their dominance over the third team in the remaining rubbers and completed the 6-0 win comfortably to take the points.

It looks like being an interesting season for the teams as they now go on to complete their matches against the other teams in the Division.
