Pupils celebrate success
Term finished on a high last Friday at Bilton Grange, with sports teams across the school celebrating a successful season of sport.
The previous day, the U13 boys had narrowly missed out on becoming IAPS National U13 hockey Champions, losing in the final 2-1 to Dean Close School. This is the furthest this age group has reached in this competition. The boys fought hard to earn their place in the final game with a fine team performance, a tremendous achievement.
In one further competition of the season, the U13s will represent the Midlands in the National Schools In2Hockey Championship , which takes place on Friday May 9.
The U12 and U11 boys are all County hockey Champions, and U13 Girls are County runners-up in both netball and hockey, with the U11s also runners-up in County Hockey.
In rugby, following a selection game that took place at Rugby School in March, two boys were selected from the Midlands’ Lambs Squad to represent England in the forthcoming Lambs Tour of Ireland. It is remarkable to have two boys from the same school represented on a national side.
Headmaster Alex Osiatynski said: “The sports teams at Bilton Grange have done the school proud this season, and achieved great things on the hockey, netball and rugby pitches. Watching the U13 boys progress to the national hockey finals was a great moment, and whilst they were unlucky to lose out in the final match, they should be very proud of this sporting achievement. I am immensely proud of the wonderful spirit in which all these achievements have been made, and they all deserve huge congratulations.”
