Rugby Bowling Club reached the semi-final of the National Top Club competition, which is contested annually throughout the bowling season by teams from 35 counties.
The final stages were played at the Bowls England National Championships in Victoria Park, Leamington.
Each team consists of 11 bowlers playing Two-woods Singles, Four-woods Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours with a point awarded for each game won.
Rugby won 5-0 in the quarter-final against West Ealing BC, Middlesex.
They were narrowly defeated 3-2 in the semi-final by Kings BC from Devon who were the eventual winners by 4-1 against Royal Wootton Bassett BC from Wiltshire.
The Rugby team was: Two Woods: Liam Percey; Four Woods: Darren Ward; Pairs: Geoff Millership & Tom Millership; Triples: Adrian Johnston, Matt Wells & Calvin Wells; Fours: Keith Mason, Nigel Townsend, Brian Boardman & Craig Carter. The two reserves were Trevor Wells and Nigel Carter.
The remaining Rugby Club finals were completed when Nigel Hewitson defeated Darren Ward in the Two Wood Cup and Tom Wells defeated Don Moses in the Litchfield Cup.
Congratulations to young Tom, who is the fourth generation of the Wells family to play for Rugby and is the youngest ever winner of a singles competition.
