BOWLS: Warwickshire VPs help raise heart funds


Zippers game adds £340 to charity

Warwickshire Vice Presidents Bowls Association played the Zippers BA at Wolvey on May 31, winning 143-99. The annual fixture raised £340 for treatment and rehabilitation of people with coronary conditions, adding to the £200k the Zippers have already raised since the mid 1990s.

The highest winning rink comprised Mick Preedy, Tony Ridpath, Richard Weare and Alan Bister 38-4.

The VPs were in action again last Wednesday at Snitterfield against Northamptonshire VPs. An excellent game was played in ideal conditions, with Warwickshire winning 117-107. The highest winning rink was Barry Sheasby, Mike Gilks, Don Darby and George Palmer, 22-11.

Sunday’s game at Entaco saw the VPs beaten 137-108 by Montgomeryshire BA. The highest winning rink was 25-11 by B Merrick, D Goodman, T North and G Palmer.
