Friendly victory for ladies at Bidford Bowling Club

The friendly match at Bidford Bowling Club against Wiltshire was threatened by the weather but in the main the rain kept off and we were able to play the full game. Much to the President’s delight highest winning rink went to Jacqui Cook with President, Chris Richards (both Lillington), Karen Rice (Entaco) and Carole Simmons (Welford) and the result was never in doubt as they stormed ahead and were 21-1 ahead at 10 ends finally winning 38-12.

Other winning rinks were Sue Hornsby (Lillington) with Anne Simmons (Wolvey), Pat Lowe (Rugby Thornfield) and Pat Moore (Three Spires) who were fairly evenly matched for the first half of the game but took off in the second half to eventually finish 30-11.

Jenny Corn with Margaret Grosvenor (both Lillington), Wendy Baxter (LMRCA), and Trish Jarvis (Wolvey) were also evenly match for the first half but managed to pull ahead in the second to win 25-8.

Chris Cooke with Rosemarie Geden (Southam), Margaret Andrew (Entaco) and Pat Harvey (Lillington) were 10 all at 13 ends but kept their heads and pulled away to finish 19-12.

Maureen Edwards (Rugby Thornfield), with Di Medhurst (Stoke), Carole Cox (Snitterfield) and June Hands (Ilmington) set off at a pace and were 13-3 up at 10 ends, but their opponents weren’t to be out done and pulled back over the next 8 ends to leave the home team struggling to retain a 19-14 win.

Elaine Taylor’s team with Chris Roberts (both Stoke), Ann Doherty (Lillington) and Liz Westell (Welford) wasn’t so fortunate as they struggled to hold their own eventually losing 16-23.

Bidford hosted the game and looked after everyone extremely well providing a very nice meal at the end of the game.
