Bretford Cycle speedway Club rode in the last regional Round of the British Youth and Junior League in Birmingham on Saturday.
All 12 from Bretford rode the best they have ridden this year so far. Kyle Roberts, in his first ever round, got a tape exclusion in the U12s but will improve every time he races.
Bretford were very unfortunate not to get Michael Dunn (7th) and Charlie Bracken (8th) through in the U8s. The top six go into the Nationals but Scott Price went through in 6th, which was excellent.
The U10s saw an unfortuate Ryan Dunn missing out on 6th by only 2 points but he rode exceptionally well. Dan Price has dominated and won all the rounds which is fantastic riding. Jake Gray was second place in all rounds, also qualifying.
U12s’ Jason Cleaver was unlucky to finish 8th but showed what he is capable of winning races. Twin brother Niall Cleaver, however, did qualify and came 4th overall. They have just gone up an age category and are holding their own with the older opponents.
In the U14s Lee Kemp, also new in his age category, beat Matt Haddock from Wednesfield who has won the other 3 Rounds. Lee has qualified as is currently in second place. Matt Hanbidge, who at times lacks confidence, found plenty getting into a B Final and securing his place into the Nationals by taking 6th. U18s’ Joe Kemp took a second place in Birmingham coming from the outside grid and moving a Sandwell rider out of the way. Joe is through to the Nationals and is currently in second position.
Well done to all that have qualified - try and bring some silverware back to Bretford again this year!
