Rugby Bridge Club

At the Sacred Heart last Tuesday Debbie Welch and Terry Bradbury lead the way followed by Alan Webb and Denis Angove. Helen Foster and Ron Golby came third.

On Wednesday Margaret Bias and John Drake achieved the highest score of the week with 66.67%. Lynda and Hugh McClean and Chris Malthouse with Clive Tull came second and third respectively.

Thursday saw Roger Ward and David Heron first, with Margaret Bias and John Drake second and Sheila and Malcolm Taylor third.

On Friday afternoon at Clifton David Symon and John Bolton took first place with Margaret Bias and John Drake second. Patti Jarvis and Roger Ward came third.

It has been a good week for the relatively new partnership of Margaret and John.

On Monday seven full tables played a 24 board 8 round Hesitation Mitchell. Top were the consistent Brian Mawby & Peter Halliday with 64.13%, a close second were the new patnership of Maxwell Kynoch & Graham Lightfoot with 63.41%. Third were Jean Child & Peter Greenfield with 58.33% and fourth Carol & Geoff Davies with 56.94%.

Board 2 was that very rare thing, a completely flat board, with all Easts making 11 tricks in a Spades game. A couple of you thought it might be a slam, but stopped in 5! Graham and Max bid the Club slam on Board 1; and Pam and Ken, who came fifth, found and made 6 Spades on Board 19.
