Two brothers are delighted to have been selected to represent their country in the Cycle Speedway Junior World Championships in America.
And the village of Wolston has rallied round to ensure Joe Kemp, 17, and Lee Kemp, 12, can fulfil their dream.
The ten-day trip to North Carolina over Easter will cost the Bretford Cycle Speedway Club riders £1,000 each, but they have already raised £1,200 towards it.
Mum Bernie said: “The lads took up the sport about six years ago and feel it’s a great honour to represent the country and I’m very proud of them.
“They are overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community and very excited.
“They would like to thank everyone for their support and making their dream a reality.”
Joe is a film and television production student at Warwickshire College, Leamington and Lee is a pupil at Avon Valley School.
They are very grateful to Wolston Parish Council, Millennium Committee, Half Moon Social Club and Future Perfect for their sponsorship.
Also a quiz night, raffle and auction were held at in the Rose and Crown, Wolston.
Bernie added: “Dylan Thomas put up a prize of £50 for the winner which was great. The quiz prizes were generously donated from the Three Horse Shoes Hotel, Sheaf and Sickle, Alex Pub in Rugby and the Co-op, Fish Bar and Frozen Foods all in Wolston. The evening raised a staggering £420.”
