Great season for 17-year-old
Young canoeist Kimberley Woods has just returned from Europe where she was racing as a member the GB senior team.
She was competing in the World Cup race 4 at Tarcen in Slovenia in August and the World Championships at Prague in September.
Kimberley, 17, produced solid performances resulting in some good results, moving her up the international rankings from 27th in C1 to 6th in the world and from 118th in K1 up to 49th.
It was an excellent start for her as she moves into the canoe slalom senior international arena.
Last weekend saw Kimberley return to the National Premier Division, racing in the Paul McConkey Memorial Slalom at Nottingham White Water Centre.
After delivering consistently fast runs in both C1 and K1 Classes in six races on both days she entered the final race in third place in both classes.
On the course with many tight moves Kimberley came second in C1.
She then followed this with the fastest time in K1 but with one time penalty for touching gate pole than her nearest rival Louise Donnington, she came a close second place.
