Canoesalom Euro 2012 Championships

Kimberley Woods from Rugby was taking part in the European Canoe Slalom Championships at Augsburg in the womens canadian class as part of the Great Britian Senior Canoe Slamon Team.
Kimberley made a costly mistake on her first run picking up a 50 secound penalty.
Her second run was in a good time but unfortunaly she picked up four seconds in penaties moving her down the order into 13th place, Still a good result for her first senior international event.
Kimberley then raced in the team event with Mallory Franklin and Alice Spencer. They were in second place, but following a successful protest by the German team, they dropped down to third place, winning the bronze medal.
2012 was the second time Augsburg in Germany has hosted the European Championship in canoe slalom, the last time being 1996. The artificial canoe slalom course at Augsburg ice canal was built and designed for the Olympic Games in 1972.
It was the first of its kind and many other courses throughout the world have been built based on its design.
