Leisure Lakes racing cyclist Vince Jenkins finished his late season come back on a high note last Sunday with a great win in the LVRC National Time Trial Championship.
Taking the gold medal and Championship Jersey in his age group with a time of 1.00.07 Vince (pictured) was nearly two minutes ahead of second place Mick Ives over a punishing circuit that gave little opportunity for recovery.
Not only was it extremely hilly taking in the steep climb of Priors Marston that generated wheel slip in the damp conditions but also, the strong winds were against the riders both out of and on the return to Napton.
“I only entered at the last minute,” said Vince. “As I was not sure whether I had regained sufficient strength for such a big event. However, I am glad that I did as this win more than makes up for missing most of the season due to illness.”
The Leisure Lakes rider will now take a break before beginning the preparation for next season.
