Focus on challenge and charity rides
Team Jewson–MI Racing–Polypipe have formed a non-competitive section, Coventry Olympic Group Sportive.
This section is focused specifically on riders over the age of 16 – both male and female – who wish to participate as a group in Sportives, challenge or charity rides.
Whilst non-competitive, this group will benefit from the vast experience available in the racing side of MI Racing, which has in excess of 30 British, European and World title in the last two years.
John Gabriel from Nuneaton, a member of the racing team and a qualified Level 2 coach for Triathlon, Mountain Bike and CycloCross, will head this section.
He said: “We will be affiliated to British Cycling and have our own clothing design, but still have very strong links with the racing team.
It’s a great opportunity for both newcomers to the sport and those who have been riding for many yearsJohn Gabriel
“It’s a great opportunity for both newcomers to the sport and those who have been riding for many years to join together, and, being part of a group of likeminded enthusiasts, take part in non-competitive but nonetheless very challenging events.
“We are ambitious in what we want to achieve and are already planning to organise three sportive rides – 25, 50 and 70 miles – on August 16, starting and finishing in Baginton.”
Coventry Olympic Group Sportive aims to bring together the spirit of the established cycling club with the latest trends in a fast growing sport, especially catering for those who wish to take part in mass participation events without the pressure of competition.
Club membership is very reasonable at just £10, with membership forms available on the MI Racing website or from cycle dealer, Ride Cycles on Holbrooks Lane, Coventry
