Two more cyclo cross victories for Rugby veteran

Rugby’s new British Cyclo Cross Champion Phil Roach just can’t stop winning.

Perfect timing with his training and preparation for the World Championships and British Championships are now starting to reap their rewards,

On Saturday Roach, who competes for Team Jewson- MI Racing- Polypipe, trounced the Veterans 50+ race at Chillwell, Nottingham, as part of the Notts and Derby series. Then a few hours later, early on Sunday morning he was in winning form again, beating all his rivals in the Welwyn Wheelers event in Hertfordshire.

In the space of two months Roach has won the Welsh Championships, the LVRC National Championships, the British Championships and finished 8th in the World Championships in Switzerland. Along with success in many local events, makes a very impressive list of achievements, which must put him in contention for one of the local sports awards, at the end of the year?

Next weekend he will compete in two more cyclo cross events before finishing off his 2013/14 season.
