Mechanical trouble for Hicks and Peacock

Round 9 of the BWA West Midland Cyclocross League took place at Top Barn Farm Activity Centre, Droitwich.

A relatively simple course with a few technical challenges, several days of rain had softened the ground for the

riders meaning a mud strewn bike would be the primary issue.

In the morning’s Veteran 50+ race Gary Hipwell managed to scrape his way into the top ten after struggling midway through the race, Pete Mooney took third in the Veteran 65+ category, and Steven Humphreys once again finished fourth in the Junior category.

In the afternoon’s Senior race Jeremy Hicks had managed to run much of the race in fourth place, changing bikes regularly. However, a last lap mechanical forced him to run the remainder of the lap leaving him with a fifth place finish as he crossed the line. Jordan Peacock had another strong start to the race but a mechanical early on meant he could only come back to finish a solid tenth overall.

Other Placings: James Garrett 17th; Jonathon Todd 34th; Mark Humphreys 48th
