CYCLING: Two Counties Challenge ride

An enthusiastic 230 cyclists took part in the Two Counties Challenge ride on August 21.

The event will have raised about £3,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, when all the sponsorship money is counted after the September 30 deadline. The on-the-day contributions amounted to £1,659 but organiser Martin Hackley is still receiving contributions.

Whilst the morning was a little overcast the weather on the day turned out to be fine and the riders enjoyed it.

The next event on the same circuit is on February 19 next year. Called the Phil Cooke Challenge Ride it will include 60km and 100km circuits. The 2010 event attracted 420 riders to take part and with a maximum field of 500 it may pay to enter this one early. The website will be taking entries within the next few days.
