With the snow finally gone and roads clear, now is the ideal time to start training for a great challenge.
Why not start 2013 by taking part in the Phil Cooke Challenge Ride (in its ninth year) on February 24.
The website, which is www.challengingtimes.org.uk, is now taking entries and the places again this year are limited to 500 on a first come basis and last year all 500 places were taken and currently over 200 places are already registered.
As with last year the event is being organised by Martin Hackley and profits will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Entries received before February 17 will be £10.
Entries after this date including on event day (if there are still places left) will be £15, so if it is your intention totake part, please ensure your place and pay less by entering as early as you can.
This year there is the option to request a personal Marie Curie Cancer Care sponsorship pack for this event (tick box included on the entry form).
This year a new 50km distance from Jack’s Hill café on the A5 north of Towcester is being introduced, in addition to the usual 100km ride.
The head quarters for the Rugby ride will be at the CIA Insurance Offices in Ashlawn Road, approximately one mile from Dunchurch, details on the website.
The route will be well marked and all entrants will have route sheets.
