DARTS: Superleague win over Coventry Railway

Rugby Superleague remain undefeated...

Rugby took on Coventry Railway in the latest Superleague game and stay top of the league with a 5.3 victory.

Prakash Jiwa was first to play for Rugby with a confident 3.0 win over Tony Nolan (21.86). Jiwa’s winning average of 26.84 was enough to secure the ‘Man of the Match’ award for Rugby, and was a useful warm up before travelling to Dublin where an excellent run in the PDC tournament saw him narrowly defeated 6.5 in round 3 by World Champion Adrian Lewis.

Ricky Reed was back to winning ways, easily taking game two with a 21.78 average, winning 3.0 against Will Roberts (19.74).

Luke Kennedy suffered his first league defeat of the season, playing Rugby local lad Richard ‘Teddy’ Lambert. Teddy who is well known in the Rugby local leagues, is playing his first season in Superleague, and was impressive with a 3.2 win and 23.18 average confidently finishing the match with 103 checkout.

Luke finished with 23.73, and will be looking to get back to winning ways next time.

Dave Atkins took Rugby further into the lead with a 3.0 win over Kev Woodward (20.27). Dave finished the final leg with 122 checkout, the highest for the night, and ended with 21.78 average.

Dave played for the Warwickshire County side on Saturday and took victory on his 100th appearance 4.1 with a 24.85 average.

Martin Bowley guaranteed the draw for Rugby Radea and was on top form with a 3.1 win over Superleague regular Steve Pinch (20.58). Martin hit 10 x 100’s & 2 x 180’s and finished with an average of 25.62. Martin took leg 4 in 15 darts finishing in style with a 102 checkout.

Martin then kept his form going, on Saturday onto the Warwickshire County stage and won 4.0 with a 24.44 average.

Hemal Tailor secured the match for Rugby with a 3.2 win over John Whittaker (20.10). Hemal finished with a 20.71 average, with missed doubles costing both players a better average.

Dan Wills also had a frustrating night of missed doubles as he lost to Jon Sanders (22.91) 3.2. Dan finished with a 22.84 average, but was keen to get back to winning ways when he won his game playing for Leicestershire County ‘A’ side on Sunday.

Carl Green played the final game against superleague newcomer Chris Gallagher. Carl finished with a 25.61 average, but was not able to stay with the impressive form of Gallagher who took victory 3.1 and was Coventry Railway Man of the Match with the highest average of the match 28.61.

Carl was quick to get back to winning ways on the County stage Saturday winning his game 4.3 with a 25.59 average.
