FENCING: Beginners welcome to have a go

New club coming to Rugby

ANYONE who would like to try fencing is invited to try at a new community club coming to Rugby.

The Salle Ursa club, which is currently based in Coventry and Warwick, is open to anyone aged ten upwards.

Training sessions have been under way for some time catering for junior fencers at Bilton and Avon Valley Schools and there has been a lot of interest among older pupils and parents for something similar. The new club seeks to provide the opportunity for anyone to get involved in the sport, no matter what age or sex they are.

The Club started on Thursday, March 10 and will run every Thursday evening, starting at 7.30pm until 9.30 pm, from the gymnasium at Harris Sports Centre, Mellish Road, Rugby, CV22 6BB. .

Both beginners and those with experience of the sport, are most welcome and for those who have never fenced before and want to give it a try, a beginners’ course will be run for four weeks from Thursday, March 10 at a total cost of £30. The club will provide all necessary equipment and all that participants need bring with them is a loose-fitting T shirt, track-suit bottoms and indoor trainers, together with some drinking water.
