First class success for Sam

Braunston girl Samantha Cullinane has just graduated with a first class degree in sport academics.

Sam, a javelin thrower, has had a fantastic year in the sport this season and is ready to start her training plan for the next two years.

Back in May Sam competed at the Olympic Stadium in London before smashing her PB to over 50 metre in June at the Aviva English Championships in Bedford and taking her into the top six senior women throwers in England.

Sam trains with heptathlete Jess Ennis under the watchful eye of javelin coach Mick Hill at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Ennis is a gold medal hopeful in the Olympics next week.

Sam is pictured here with her boyfriend, fellow javelin thrower Matt Hunt, who has already recorded a throw of over 76 metres and has an England vest to his name.

They both have targets of qualifying for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and will start their winter training programme after returning from a family holiday in Spain.
